Learn More About City-Owned EV Charging Stations

The City of South Bend operates charging stations that are located in the public right of way and at city facilities. Locations include Howard Park and the County City Building. All city-owned charging stations are free to use.

What types of Electric Vehicles are available for consumers?

  • Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) or All-Electric Vehicles are vehicles powered purely by electric motors and a battery that must be plugged in to recharge. They typically have driving ranges between 150-400 miles.
  • Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) are powered by both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. These vehicles can be driven in electric or gas-powered modes.
