What is a W-9?
W-9 is a tax form called Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification.
It is used for:
- Certifying that the vendor has provided the correct taxpayer identification number
- Certifying that the vendor is not subject to backup withholding
- Certifying that the vendor is a US citizen or a US resident alien, partnership, corporation, company, association, estate, or domestic trust permitted to operate in the United States

Who has to fill out a W-9?
