What is euthanasia?
Humane animal euthanasia is the compassionate act of intentionally ending the life of an animal. Reasons for euthanasia include incurable (and especially painful) conditions or diseases, lack of resources to continue supporting the animal, or laboratory test procedures. Euthanasia methods are designed to cause minimal pain and distress.

Who can have their pet euthanized?
SBARC offers humane euthanasia services to any citizen who lives within the City limits of South Bend. SBARC will euthanize an animal for a $20.00 fee. The owner must make an appointment with SBARC ahead of time. To prepare for an appointment, please submit an owner surrender form in advance.
When can I make an appointment to have my pet euthanized?
The owner must make an appointment with SBARC to euthanize their animal. Appointments are preferably made at least one business day in advance.
