Request a Fire Report

The South Bend Fire Department responds and reports on any unintended structure or property fires within the city limits. Fire Reports can be requested by anyone. Residents, attorneys, or insurance companies requesting information about a fire department response. Simple summary face sheets can be provided immediately, but a complete Fire Report requires the requestor to complete an Access to Public Records Request prior to the report being released.

Fire Reports are available to residents, attorneys, or insurance companies requiring information about a South Bend Fire Department response.


How do I request a Fire Report?

Fire reports can be requested either by emailing APRApra@southbendin.gov or calling the Administrative office at 574-235-9255. Administrative office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.


When can I make a fire report request?

Fire reports are available during our office hours from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excepting City Holidays.

Fire reports are generally available on the next business day following the event.


Is there a fee for a Fire Report?

There will be no charge if you have provided your email address on the Apra form.

If the report is mailed out or picked up at the office. The charge can be up to $25.00

Residents who require more information about obtaining reports, or the types of reports available, are encouraged to call the offices of the South Bend Fire Department at 574-235-9255.


Where can a Fire Report be picked up?

Fire reports can be picked up or requested at the South Bend Fire Department Administrative Offices located at 1222 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46601.

The South Bend Fire Department provides reports for incidents that occur within the City limits of South Bend.  If you have a 5 digit address, you would need to contact the Township Fire Department that provides your services.
