Is there a cost for Christmas tree pickup?
The City offers free Christmas tree recycling for residents within city limits from Tuesday, January 2 to Thursday, February 1. Christmas tree collection will take place on the same day as trash pickup. Free Christmas tree pickup only includes the removal of one tree per household. Additional Christmas trees can be removed and billed at a rate of $10 per tree. Any Christmas tree pickups scheduled after February 1 will be used as the residents’ free monthly yard waste extra pickup.
How do I request a Christmas tree pickup?
To schedule a Christmas tree pickup, residents can submit an online request or call 311 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The online form must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on the business day prior to the scheduled trash pickup day. Forms submitted after the 3:00 p.m. deadline will be scheduled for the following week.
Are there any guidelines for Christmas tree pickup?
Residents are asked to follow the guidelines for safe and efficient tree pickup:
- Trees must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the day of pickup. Trees should not be placed in the street or alley, and must be out front, in an open area, unobstructed by cars, trees, powerlines, mailboxes, fences, poles, buildings or containers. Cars should not be parked on top or in front of the tree, as this could hamper crews from collecting it.
- All lights, ornaments, plastic coverings/wraps and metals, such as nails or tree stands, must be removed from the tree prior to pick up. Items left on trees can injure employees or seriously damage the tree shredding equipment, leaving it inoperable.
- Artificial trees and trees containing any metal, glass or wire will not be collected. Residents will be responsible for the proper disposal of these items.
